Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has drawn the ire of Nigerians for his kneeling episode on Thursday. Specifically, El-Rufai had gone on his knees to beg Kogi indigenes to forgive Governor Yahaya Bello for his misdeeds. Further, he had urged them to grant him a second term in office.
El-Rufai was in Kogi state to canvass support for Bello ahead of the governorship election in the state on Saturday. Equally important, he was in the state in his capacity as the Chairman, Kogi State Governorship Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
El-Rufai had urged the people to return Bello for a second term on the platform of the APC on Saturday.
He made the plea while speaking during the grand finale of the APC governorship campaign. Specifically, the event was held at the 25,000-capacity Confluence Stadium, Lokoja on Thursday, November 14.

Also, he called for forgiveness of both real and perceived misdeeds of the governor; appealing to the people to forgive the wrongs of the governor on account of his young age.
According to him, young persons are susceptible to mistakes.
“When you are young, you make mistakes. Please, I am kneeling down on my knees to beg you. Please, forgive whatever wrong he has done to you.
“I beg you all. Let us make history. Also, let us not dishonour the memory of Prince Abubakar Audu by allowing PDP to come back. We must work for the unity and progress of Kogi,” he said.
Meanwhile, El-Rufai said the campaign train had come not only to re-elect Yahaya Bello but to bury PDP once and for all. Additionally, he noted that the PDP ruled the state for a long time but did nothing.
However, the development has angered Nigerians who have wasted no time in reacting to the incident.
Indeed, the video of the Kaduna Governor kneeling to plead with the audience at the stadium is currently making the rounds on social media. Subsequently, the video has become a hot topic online. Furthermore, it has generated a storm on micro-blogging site, Twitter.
As a matter of fact, 1st News has garnered the reactions from Nigerians on the subject.
Elrufai had knelt down to Obasonjo & later he disobeyed him
He knelt down to Atiku & later he disobeyed him
Now he knelt down to the people of Kogi & urged them to reelect Yahaya Bello & definitely the Yahaya Bello will fail them if they reelect him.
Kogis vote wisely!

The people of Kogi state are not seeing what @elrufai is doing in kaduna state? They should exchange Governors, El Rufai to come to Kogi and Yahaya to go to Kaduna..I cannot think of any reason why you should owe workers salaries. Money that’s not coming from your pocket. https://t.co/nVsLrDKoFC
