Buhari nominates Adeleke as NCC Executive Commissioner

President Muhammadu Buhari has sought the Senate’s confirmation of Adeleke Adeolu as Executive Commissioner of the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC).

Buhari’s proposal is in line with section 8 (1) of the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) act 2003.

Senate President, Ahmad Lawan made the announcement on Thursday, September 26, during plenary.

He expressed hope that the chamber considers his request “expeditiously.”

Meanwhile, the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, has stressed the need for private and public sectors to embrace digitisation.

This, he said would drive and enable socio-economic benefits in the country, while creating more jobs.

Danbatta, who gave the assertion during his keynote address at the Business Journal Second Annual Lecture And Awards, which held recently in Lagos, said: “The role of innovation for growth is strengthened by advances in new technologies, and a greater focus on knowledge creation. Indeed, the more advanced a country becomes in terms of digitisation, the greater the benefits.”
