On Thursday, The Federal Superior Court in Lagos state-granted bail to Abdullahi Babalele, son-in-law of Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the People Democratic Party, PDP in 2019.

Judge Nicholas Oweibo gave him a bond for the sum of N20million with a guarantee in the same amount.

The guarantee must be a resident in Lagos and must present evidence of the means through an affidavit. He also ordered Babalele to deposit his passport.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had prosecuted Babalele on Wednesday for allegedly laundering $ 140,000 during the general election. However, he pleaded not guilty to the charges of two charges brought against him.

The commission also attacked Atiku’s lawyer, Uyiekpen Giwa-Osagie and his brother Erhunse Giwa-Osagie, for a separate $ 2 million laundering charge.
